We created Real Kid Friendly as we came into “the toddler scene”.
We realized that dining out had a whole new list of preferences for us. Where the top of our list was once great food in a seemingly clean restaurant; it was now a restaurant with a contained area that has some running room, some type of climbing structure, and (because our son is still a toddler) seating in that contained area. If we find this, we feel like we’ve hit the jackpot. We have given up on cleanliness being at the top of the list; mainly because our son puts everything in his mouth and has for more than a year so a clean play area would be a waste of a requirement.
On some road trips, we’ve been so desperate to have a meal without hearing “down, down, down, etc.” five minutes after we’ve settled in at our table that we will take the bottom of the barrel. We would much rather have that than a nice, clean restaurant with super food if it means that we can finish a meal peacefully (even if the food is mediocre and we have to take turns eating so that one of us can be in the play area with him) while Bundle of Energy (our son) jumps, runs, and yells.
We hope that Real Kid Friendly will help you find what you are looking for when it comes to eating out with children. Please be patient with us as we build our site. With the help of friends and guests like you, we are continuing to expand the list of real kid-friendly restaurants so that all of us who are crazy enough to eat out with kids can dine without the whine.
